Speedy
1928Babe Ruth rides in Speedy's cab
Speedy was Harold Lloyd's last silent film, shot largely on real New York City streets rather than a studio backlot, giving it an almost documentary quality of 1920s Manhattan that few other films of the era captured. Babe Ruth appears as himself in a genuine cameo, playing along with the joke that his own reckless cab ride to Yankee Stadium is nearly as thrilling as anything he does on the field. The location shoot reportedly drew real crowds who had no idea they were watching a movie being made, some of whom ended up in the finished film.
